Canada 150 Road Trip - Tuesday, June 27th

Had breakfast at the hotel, and then off to get gas before crossing into Canada again. Once we crossed, we parked at a nearby lot and made our way down to the Visitor Centre for Niagara’s Fury. If I remember correctly, we miss judged our time and we were going to be late, again, so we had to run! I had enough running the day before that I did not care if I made it the show or not. But, we made it just in time to be given a poncho and walk into the theatre. I was a little worried as I had no idea that we would be getting wet during this video. Luckily it wasn’t too bad, and it was a pretty neat experience. You watch a short animated film, and then went into a side room where the floor moved and you would get hit with water. It was like you were close to the falls. After the video, we had to be at the White Water Walk for a set time, and there was no way we could walk it, as it was a couple miles. I mean we could have walked it if we hadn’t re-scheduled the Fury movie so close to our time for the walk.  We managed to find a bus stop that would take us there (free bus rides with our pass…score!), and we showed up right about on time.

After the walk we took the bus back to where the car was parked. I had wanted to go to the Hershey Chocolate store, but I was worried about how much time everyone would want to spend in there that I quickly changed my mind and said we were heading right to Hamilton. Off to Hamilton we went. The whole point of stopping in Hamilton was to go to the original Tim Hortons restaurant. I was so excited! We ordered food and sat upstairs where the little museum was. Of course I ordered all of the new Canada 150 donuts and timbits. The maple timbits were my favorite! I could not get enough of them.

From Hamilton we were off to Toronto. We had to be at Rogers Center for the tour there at 3pm. Somebody changed my plans, which caused 3 of us to have to run for our lives to get to the tour from a parking lot that was blocks away. We showed up 15 minutes late, and I was pissed! Super mad. I’d get more into it, but I won’t just for the sake of not knowing who might read this. The staff at Rogers Center were great though. They were able to find the group we were supposed to be with and get us up to them. The tour was really neat. I had been on the tour at Great American Ball Park here in Cincinnati about 5 years ago, but it still was neat to see how different all the ball parks are. I am hoping to go to St. Louis park in August. At the tour we met up with Hollie, Mark, and his aunt and uncle who had come in from Kingston. I was so excited to see my best friend.

After the tour we had to kill some time before we could get in for the game that night, so we went to the pro-shop and then over to Steam Whistle Brewery for a beer. Then we headed back across the street for the game! I finally had a chance to see the Blue Jays play in person. We watched a lot of their games on TV when we were growing up. Mom was a big fan, and they were one of two Canadian teams to cheer for. I had been to a few Minnesota Twins games growing up. Grandma J had taken me down to see them play a few times, and I do not remember ever getting to see the Blue Jays play. Living in Northern Kentucky and being able to go to Cincinnati Reds game is great, but the Jays don’t play against the boys here.
