After breakfast at the hotel we went to
Niagara Falls, and checked out the area and the American Falls. It took us a
couple hours to decide on what to do while there.
We eventually ended up
deciding to cross into Canada and see the Falls on that side, and do all the
attractions over there. We had planned on doing the attractions on both sides
of the border, but when we thought about it more, we questioned whether it made
sense to do that, and cost wise, was it really worth it. The Falls were
unbelievable! I could not believe at my age how I had never seen them until
then. Over the last few years I have had people ask me about them, and I’ve had
to tell them I had never been, and they were shocked. I sometimes wonder if
people forget how big Canada is. Have you seen every part of the States?!
That’s what I want to say, but never do.
Anyways, I digress…We purchased our Adventure Passes for
the attractions, and then had time for lunch over at Niagara Brewing Company.
The food there was so good. We shared 4 different menu items between all of us.
My favorite was the Olde York Kettle Chips. They had a smoky BBQ seasoning with
Amber Eh! infused spicy aioli. Sooo good!
After lunch we went on the Hornblower – the Canadian
equivalent to Maid of the Mist on the US side, where you get up close and
personal with the falls. It was so much fun, and you definitely got wet! When
we first got our rain ponchos from the staff, Vaughn tied his between his legs
so that it wouldn’t fly up in the breeze, and the hope was to not get too wet.
Well, I tried it, and it kind of backfired on me. When we finished and I untied
the poncho between my legs, my shorts were soaked, made me look like I peed my
pants. We laughed pretty hard about that.

After the boat ride, we had to be
back at the main visitor center to see Journey Behind the Falls. From there we
had to be at Niagara’s Fury for 5:00pm, and we showed up minutes late and they
would not let us in. Super
disappointing, but they were able to reschedule us for the next morning, so I
was happy about that.
We had the Oh Canada Eh? Dinner Show at 6:30 that night, so
we ventured over to where that was being held and just waited out a storm that
happened to blow in shortly after we parked. When the storm had finally slowed
down, we rushed inside, and they began seating people shortly after. We had a
table right up near the stage, and I had been told when I made the reservation
that one lucky male guest always gets brought up onto the stage during the
performance. I was really hoping they would take Aaron up. They didn’t grab
Aaron, but they did take the guy beside me. I believe his name was Chuck. He
and his wife were so nice; they were there for their daughter’s birthday. He talked to us about Skyline Chili once he
knew we were from the area. It was quite comical.

When the show ended, we headed over to the falls as they
were going to be shooting off fireworks at 10pm. I was more excited to see the Falls
Illumination show, where they light up the falls. It was so pretty. Then back
across the border we went to the States. Hotel was cheaper on the US side. J
The funny thing about
crossing back into the States was when the customs guard was running through
our names and ended with “and you must be A-A-ron?” She smiled as the rest of
us burst out laughing, then she started laughing. We were the last car to go
through her lane so I guess she was happy her shift was ending.
