Immigration Update and More

Two weeks into the year, and already it seems like so much has happened. The day after writing my last post I received my notice from US Immigration that my interview will be on February 3rd in Louisville, KY. For those of you who do not know where Louisville is, it is about an hour and a half southwest of the Cincinnati Area. Aaron and I will more than likely go down the night before, as I do not want to chance something happening on the roads the morning of and missing our appointment. Not sure what to really expect with the interview. The notice provides a list of things to bring, so the last couple weeks I have been organizing all our information that we submitted into piles of originals versus copies. I also have been going through pictures and pulling out all the ones that I can give to them if needed. I am going to assume that my next post will probably be after we have gone for the interview.

Just over a week ago a group of us were supposed to go to Turfway Park to watch the horse races, but they were cancelled due to the weather. It was pretty cold here, and I figured they would cancel them for the safety of the horses. I still can’t get over going to the horse races in the middle of winter. One of my favourite things to do at home, and I pretty much can do it year around in Kentucky/Ohio. Many of my childhood memories were spent at the track, and being at any of them makes me think of my Grandma J.

I had a pretty rough day at work on Tuesday. I realized a mistake that I had made that cost a few employees some money, and I felt absolutely horrible about this. I was so bothered by what I had discovered that I decided I needed to go to broomball that night. Well, after months of me saying I was not going to be playing this year, I ended up playing, and loving it like before. I was pretty cautious after breaking my hand last year. Thankfully the goon who broke it is no longer playing. I went out and bought lacrosse gloves that afternoon for Aaron, and ended up wearing them myself. Looking forward to the next 9 weeks of playing.

Last Wednesday we went to the Cyclones hockey game, and what a game it was! For those of you on Facebook, you would have saw my post, but I wanted to touch on it today. That game was the most intense and crazy hockey game I have ever been to. I have been to my fair share of hockey games through the years, and that was the best. I hate to say that, but it was pretty epic. A goalie fight! Never in a million years did I ever think that I would get to see that in a hockey game. It was not much of a fight as our goalie went down after one hit, but I did find out later that the opposing teams goalie specializes in martial arts. He meant business. All the videos I have watched, I have to say that I was impressed that the opposing goalie had a heart at the end of it and was concerned for our goalie. Rumour I heard was that the opposing goalie tried asking one of our ice girls how our goalie was doing, and she declined to answer him. I have not heard anything further on how either one of them are doing or if there were any fines or suspensions. I would be surprised if there weren’t any.

Thursday I was able to help my friend Brittany make some cookies for an order she had received, as she has started to sell decorated cookies and chocolates. I believe it was for 5 dozen, and they were 50s themed. They were pretty fun to do. Then, I received a text from her yesterday morning that she had received a few more orders….8 dozen to be exact, and they needed them for today! I went over to help her for a few hours, and we were able to get a couple dozen done, then she was off to a baby shower. I wish I could have kept working on them, as it is something I love to do. Not many probably know this, but I took cookie decorating classes a few years ago (actually taught Brittany some of the techniques). Due to time with school I have not been able to do what she has now started – a home business. My goal is still to do this, and I have some big plans. Some might remember when I took cake decorating classes way back when, and I am getting back into that as well. Just one more semester of school left, and then I can make baking more my focus. I have so many hobbies and plans that I have started questioning all of them the last couple of weeks. Have to decide how much time I want to devote to each of them, and money. All three of my hobbies seem to be pretty expensive.

I made these for a pampered chef party.

Doing some experimenting for Valentine's Day.

Some of the cookies Brittany and I have made.

Aaron was in Nashville all weekend for a fraternity meeting. I had a very productive weekend at home. Got all the laundry done, a week’s worth of dishes washed, cleaned up the house, read for school, helped Brittany, sorted through pictures, and prepped my meals for this week. I still have a whole afternoon and evening ahead of me, this is great!! Guess it is time for me to watch a movie. Until next time…have a great week!
