Back in Canada for the Summer!

Happy Birthday to my mom today!! Looking forward to family coming over for lobster and king crab supper, bingo, and a bonfire tonight.

It has been a pretty eventful week. I arrived back from Nicaragua late last Saturday night, and was on the road bright and early Monday morning to head back to Canada. Crossed the Pembina Border crossing shortly before lunch on Tuesday, and it was a breeze. Definitely a lot better than my experience in Houston last weekend coming back from Nicaragua. Let’s just say that the guy there was not very helpful or pleasant.

On the way to mom and Ken’s I stopped in at Uncle Peter’s and Darrin’s place to surprise them that I was home. Then up to mom and Ken's place to hang out for the afternoon. Late that night Blaine played hockey at the MTS Iceplex, so I went to watch. Wednesday was Allison's graduation at the Centennial Concert Hall downtown. While she went and got ready, mom, Aunty Wendy and I went to the Red River Culinary Arts restaurant for lunch. Convocation was good, did not last as long as we thought it would. Not everyone showed up to walk across the stage, so that was kind of nice. That night Allison and Blaine played baseball, so I went to watch, they played two games. One of their friends brought this really obnoxious guy with them, who sat on the bench with me and talked the whole time. He would mock the opposition’s players, as well as ours. Hopefully he isn't back for the rest of the season.

Thursday I went shopping for some Jets gear, and was lucky enough to score some really great deals. Will have to get a few more things later this summer. Then I became the ultimate tourist in my own city. I went down to The Forks, something I try to do every time I come to the city, but this time I went on a boat tour down the river. The river is still really high, a lot of the walkways are a few feet under water. I was hoping that the Canadian Museum for Human Rights would be open, but I guess that will not happen until September, so I won't get to see if for a while.

Yesterday I had to do some running around for my dad, and get an oil change. Went for lunch at Smoke's Poutinerie and had the perogy poutine, which was fantastic!! So many choices, can't wait to go back in July. Last night, Allison and Blaine played ball again up in Lake Francis, so I went to watch. They won both games. It was great to see all their friends again. Allison and I then went to Becky's place for a bonfire.

Perogy poutine...yum!!

Today has been relaxing, actually the whole week has been. Crazy to think that I go back to work on Monday. I will be on the road bright and early tomorrow morning heading to Edmonton, where I will spend the next 7 or 8 weeks. So excited to see my dad, Debbie, friends and co-workers.

Almost time for us to eat dinner and celebrate mom's birthday!

I will finish by saying, if you want to read about my Nicaragua adventures, and others who were on the trip with me, be sure to check out our blog:
