Crazy couple of weeks

Wow, it’s been a few weeks since I have had time to write, my apologies to anyone who has been checking the page recently to see what’s been going on. Now, try to remember everything…

Aaron and I went and seen Ghost: The Musical one night a few weeks ago, and I absolutely loved it! The special effects were pretty awesome. Aaron didn’t really care for it, I think it’s because he’s never seen the movie, and he didn’t care for the lead singer. She was a bit much for me too, but I was so into everything else that I didn’t let her bother me.  Our next musical is Flashdance in just a couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to that!

Homecoming weekend was on October 5^th. That morning I had to write my Theology midterm, and I am pretty sure I should get well into the 90s for that exam.  After we wrote it, we still had class, and he mentioned that there was one person in the whole class who had got this second part to one of the short answer questions, and turns out, that one person was me!! Pays to take really good notes and study for 2 days. When class was over at noon I just walked over to the Alumni Homecoming tent that was set up to meet Aaron and a few others before heading over to the football field.  The weather wasn’t that great, it started to rain a bit in the first quarter that we ended up back in the Alumni tent peeking through a hole to see the score. Which was a complete blowout! The final score was 61-0. After that game we had to head to a Country Club where Aaron was DJing a wedding. It was unfortunate for this couple that it was raining, as the ceremony got moved inside to where dinner was going to be. They moved some tables around and made the ceremony happen.  Overall, it was a really good night. Aaron got to see a bunch of people from high school, who he hasn’t seen in quite some time.

On the Sunday, the 6^th, it was still raining, and we had to work the Bengals game. There were 11 of us who worked a booth and the proceeds went to the Fraternity. It was a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to working a few more games this season.

Then, the rest of last week was pretty much pure chaos and I really wanted to just give up on everything here and go back home.  I had a midterm on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, as well as a History paper due on the Wednesday morning. Here it was 10:30 on the Sunday night and I haven’t studied for either test or even started my history paper yet. Needless to say I had a really big meltdown – screaming, completely upset and ready to give up on everything. The whole nine yards. I really do wonder how much Aaron will take. I mean, I don’t try to test it, but I do wonder sometimes. I had and have warned him since we decided that I would apply to school down here that I can get extremely stressed out with school, and he re-assured me that he’d help me out when needed and that I would do just fine. Well, he was a huge help last week. Who stayed up with me until 2am writing a paper on Monday? Aaron! I know that it’s not an area that he thought he would be helping me in (he’d rather help me with math and economics), but sometimes it’s just best to talk things out in order to generate ideas to write about. And well, it paid off, I got me an A+ on the paper!  Last night I found out my mark for Sociology and got an 88% on the midterm, and somehow I managed to get an 83% on my Operations Management midterm.  There is a long story on that, but I won’t get into it. Short version, the whole midterm ended up consisting of math problems which I haven’t dealt with in a really long time. I left class last week feeling so defeated and wondered how I could face a “F” in the class. I’m sitting at a B right now, so I will take that.

I did get a job last Monday, so that was about the only good thing that happened last week. I will be working in Institutional Planning and Effectiveness doing some data-entry and preparation of reports and testing materials for the school. There is just a little problem with when I can actually start. Because of the Government shutdown, I can't apply for a Social Security number. I am hoping that the offices are back up and running tomorrow or Friday and I can get in there and get my application started.  This job will pretty much determine whether I will be here next term or not.

Our Fall Break was on Thursday and Friday last week, so I managed to squeeze in a chiropractor appointment, 1.5 hour massage and lunch with Jen and little Caiden. Then had supper at Aaron’s grandma’s that night, and ran a few errands. Friday was buckle down day and do a paper in psychology, and a few other homework assignments. Saturday we went to US Bank arena to pick up our Cincinnati Cyclones season tickets and had a small buffet lunch there. That night Aaron was DJing a wedding again. Talk about stressful, the computer monitor wouldn’t work for some reason, and you kind of need that to DJ. Good thing he had his laptop and was able to get access to Wi-Fi to download the appropriate program and play music. Meanwhile, I went on a chase to find a new monitor cord.  All I have to say is that I love GPS! By the time I got back the wedding was half over, and the cord wasn’t the problem! After the wedding we met up with Vaughn and went to Mainstrasse to a few bars before finishing the night at Goodfellas Pizzeria. They have to have the best pizza around.

This past Sunday we went to the Cincinnati Chocolate Festival, which was alright. I think I could pass on that for future years.  It was a bunch of vendors set up sampling their products, all with chocolate of course, and I think I just would have set it up better. Although, I did find SugarSnap! Food Truck had a booth there, and Aaron told them that I have been stalking them since I got here. So I had to tell them that I was all excited to see them a few weeks ago at this Food Truck event and they cancelled, so I made a comment on the facebook page and that one of them replied that they were sick. They were apologetic and we laughed about me trying to track them down. When we were about to walk away the one lady pulled us aside and gave us a full tray of Salted Caramel Brownies. So, I guess it sometimes pays off to be a stalker. The rest of the afternoon I stayed home and read for my Theology paper, and Aaron was so nice to go to a friend’s house to watch football.

Monday was Thanksgiving for us Canadians, so Aaron took me to Keystone Bar and Grill for half price Mac N’ Cheese at lunch, where we made sure to get turkey in both our meals. Oh, and it was a beautiful day here, +24!! That evening I had economics and then headed over to Applebee’s for our Monday night norm. After the guys have their Fraternity meeting some of them head across the street to get half price appetizers and drinks, so I have been heading over after class for about an hour before they all get there.

Last night before I had to leave for school was pretty interesting. I had gone outside to check if there was any mail, and infront of the neighbours there was a police car, and infront of our place was a fire truck. Immediately I go back inside to call Aaron and peek out the front door to watch a man in handcuffs be escorted through the neighbours front area and placed into the cop car, where they questioned him for a bit and then took off. I seen the neighbour outside a little while later so I went to "gossip" with her to see what was going on, turns out this guy was running from the cops and had a warrant for his arrest. He tried cutting through the neighbours yard but their gate stumped him and they caught him. Never thought something like that would happen so close to home. Crazy!! 

 

Now, bringing us to today, I’m killing time before my class tonight, only 5 more hours. I do have some homework that I will be getting to right away, but I wanted to make sure to give a bit of an update since it’s been a couple of weeks. I’ll try not to let that happen again! Hopefully.
