Fall is creeping into Northern Kentucky

Had a fairly quiet night in the house last night by myself. I was woken to a car horn going off constantly at 2:30am which then made me think and wonder if it was maybe my car, but I was too scared to look out the bedroom window. Yeah, I’m a chicken. Eventually it stopped, and since I couldn’t stop thinking about it, I peered out the window and couldn’t see anything. Not sure who’s car it was, but sitting here doing homework today I heard it go off again, so I’m thinking someone doesn’t know how to work their new car alarm or something. Have been fairly accomplished today, which is a good feeling. Makes the decision for going out for Izzy’s birthday tonight pretty easy. I was going anyways, but knowing that I won’t have as much homework to do tomorrow is an even better feeling where I won’t feel guilty for going.

It was cold here last night, got down to 7C. Some of you might think that I've gone crazy already with temperature changes, but it got to 37C just a few days ago, so last night was cold. I saw that Edmonton broke a heat record the other day, which was warmer than here that day too. Everyone has begun to welcome fall here. As we complain about the cold temperatures in the winter, I have had to laugh a couple of times the last few weeks in listening to people complain about the heat. We are similar but opposite, you know what I mean.

I thought of this the other night, and I couldn’t believe that I forgot to put this in my last post. Monday this week I wore my Calgary Flames t-shirt to school, and before I left that morning I had said to Aaron that I wondered if my History teacher would say anything…sure enough he noticed and made a positive comment about it, it was so funny, he was like “hockey, the Calgary Flames, nice shirt, bonus grades for that” and pointed to one of the football players and said “now that’s a real man’s sport, hockey…oh it sure is!” and everyone started laughing. Then on Wednesday, I was sitting in the library killing some time before my next class when he came up to me asked me about someone giving me a hard time about wearing my hockey shirt the other day. I was a little confused, as nobody had said anything to me about it, so he must have over heard something or perhaps another instructor recognized it and made a comment about it. He said that someone was talking down about it, but that he was all for it. Really nice guy. He even asked me how I think things are going in the class, as I had spoken with him a couple weeks ago to get more comfortable with the course and just what to expect. I just wonder now if I stick out more then I really wanted to. Guess we’ll see how the first test goes next Friday.

Training on Thursday night at Paul Brown Stadium was interesting. We couldn’t figure out where to go and walked to all these gates before we ran into this group of 5 from Xavier University who were there for the training also. The guy seemed to have more information on where we needed to go then we had, so we tagged along with them. Before you know it, we were able to find someone who was able to track down the lady who was doing the training and he took us up to the Club where training was. A short while later a really large group of people came in. Not what I was expecting, but I don’t know what I really expected. There were probably close to a hundred people there. Maybe more. The lady went through a bunch of things related to serving alcohol and what our responsibilities are and then we took the test. Should have the results in a couple weeks, and hopefully I’ll be fully certified to sell alcohol at the Bengals games.

I'm missing something important back home today, my friend Ellie is getting married, and I really wish that I could be there to celebrate. All the best to Ellie and Cam today!
